For the Easter Program for Williams Sonoma, Studio Marcus Hay worked with 3 amazing teams. Shooting with both wonderful Photographers Anson Smart, Romulo Yanes and Anna Williams, Studio Marcus Hay Art Directed the entire Easter program from scratch. We produced a series of mood boards that captured the spirit of the season and the direction needed to execute the images. Working with the multi talented regular contributor Food Stylist Alison Attenborough and for the first time with the amazing Author and Prop Stylist Hilary Roberston and equally talented Christina Lane We set about a number of weeks in San Francisco shooting on a number of locations and studio.

Easter is a season that celebrates a pastel palette, for this Easter for Williams Sonoma we wanted a fresh almost watercolor approach, using a rainbow of pastel we created custom backgrounds that we used to produce the tighter shots and even created a custom made kitchen in the studio to shoot a pancake and waffle party scenario.

Here in this post we have included our mood boards that was presented to the team at Williams Sonoma before shooting and approved of the overall vision, these were also used as a guide to brief in and inspire the team.

We hope you enjoy the results and the Easter mood we captured.

Just when I thought that was it, Another batch of great images I did for Williams Sonoma hatches in the new Holiday Catalog which I picked up in their stores.

Once again these were shot largely in San Francisco except the Blackberry Farm portion which was shot in TN, I was so glad to see our dusk shots of the outdoor bar made it in, We work till 10pm that night getting that shot so I glad to see it got included, there was something very magical about the sunset that night!

These shots were photographed once again by John KernickAnna Williams and Romulo Yanes. Food Styled by Alison AttenboroughMaggie Ruggiero and Merilee Bordin

This could be my very last post on the work I did for Williams Sonoma for their Thanksgiving and Nov Catalogs. Thanksgiving is nearly upon us and Wiliams Sonoma have some very interesting technology when it comes to cooking a turkey, Check out how to cook a turkey with the aid of your IPhone or iPad. Of course the challenge was to make this technology not look like The Jetsons, but friendly and inviting.

Other spreads here include blenders and waffle machines.

It's always amazing to be part of the process of presenting cookware to customers and to see how the mastery of Food Styling is put into place, I worked with many talented Food Stylists to produce these pages including Alison Attenborough, Maggie Ruggiero and Merilee Bordin

These pages were photographed by John Kernick, Anna Williams and Romulo Yanes, All of whom I loved working with once again.

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of visiting Blackberry Farm in Tennessee where I worked with an amazing team on creating a Blackberry Farm/ Williams Sonoma collaboration. The Brochure that comes out every year is quite collectible and is printed on a lovely stock paper different than the regular Catalog.

Some of these images here where shot in a studio with a Blackberry Farm nod, These were shot by Romulo Yanes. All other images where shot on location with John Kernick, Food was largely styled by the ever talented Alison Attenborough

For more on Blackberry Farm, Check out my behind the scenes shots at my other post, Click here.

Imagine my excitement when I see that Williams Sonoma has used one of my shots I styled for their latest cover out now. This will be my second cover for WS. I shot these in San Francisco with the ever talented Romulo Yanes

Many of you would have seen these before featured on my blog but not in this format. Williams Sonoma has done a wonderful whole Ice cream and Popsicle story that we shot over the course of a week. Some of these images are also from their website.

Studio Marcus Hay is looking forward to heading West in the coming months for more projects with them, Stay tuned!

Williams Sonoma/ Summer, 13

Summer is almost here, At least it feels that way in NYC! A few months ago in San Francisco, I worked on this batch of images for Williams Sonoma for their Summer issues of their Cooks Catalog.

With the amazing Romulo Yanes we spent a week photographing Ice Cream, Milkshakes and Popsicles, As well as some exciting images for the Australian market (not shown here) for their new store in Sydney, Australia. Food Stylist Merilee Bordin did an extraordinary job of Food Styling, Ice Cream and things that melt quickly are never easy to work with.

For this section of the Catalog I wanted to use Icy pastel palettes that complimented the product that felt slightly nostalgic harping back to an era like the 1950's when Milkshake Bars existed. We found some great vintage Enamel and old 1950's laminate tables that where used throughout. It was a lot of fun.

The other 2 images here are of a cover I styled and some rubs/ sauces with Photographer Con Poulos and Food Stylist Alison Attenborough This was from an earlier trip but have just been featured, exciting to see my first Williams Sonoma cover!
