Get The Look/ Studio Marcus Hay. Inc/ U Turn chair/ DWR

Photography: Jim Bastardo, Styling: Studio Marcus Hay, Inc

For the new look in our The Lab section at our website for our regular Get The Look we feature a shot from the latest DWR catlaog we styled. It is the U Turn Chair. Studio Marcus Hay, Inc styled the above shot for the U Turn chair designed by the famous Neils Bendtsen. Made in Italy in the softest Kalahari leather, we gave this beautiful chair a setting with a complimentary palette of caramels, soft greys and linens, a favourite combo at S.M.H. Using photographs and paintings inspired by nature, we also added the surprise punch of a modern petal clock designed by George Nelson and Grasshopper Floor Lamp by one of our favourite designers Greta Grossman.

Get The Look/ Diane Keaton inspired Room

At Studio Marcus Hay we have our inspired style icons, One of those would have to be screen actress Diane Keaton who is famous for her sleek yet casual personal style. For a recent set of images for Design Within Reach we used her persona to create a library style room. Soft in palette we used flesh, putties and soft grays with a nod to materials such as leather and pale scandi woods. Get the look of this room by shopping our guide.

Get the Look/ Chelsea Apartment Dining Room

Photography: Jonny Valiant, Art Direction & Styling: Studio Marcus Hay

Studio Marcus Hay created this scheme for an apartment in Chelsea/ NYC. It has been a very popular image for us and we get asked about it all the time. In the Get the Look section of Color & Trend Forecasting at our website, We profile a shopping guide on where to get all the amazing items featured in this room. Using a variety of design classics from Ray & Charles Eames, George Nelson, Tom Dixon, Arne Jacobsen and Isamu Noguchi, Studio Marcus Hay created a calm clean space that feels both modern and relaxed. Filled with natural light, Studio Marcus Hay embraced the big window and allowed a long thin table to run alongside it's length, A large Swiss designed poster compliments the space and adds that punctuation with the simple elegance of a black and white combination of colors. Get The Look/ Studio Marcus Hay

Photography: Jonny Valiant, Interior Design & Styling: Studio Marcus Hay

For the Dining Room/ Office Space, Studio Marcus Hay wanted to design a space for the client that served 2 purposes. One to entertain guests for dinner and also a workspace where meetings and work on laptops could be done around the robust industrial worktable. Painted in a calm gray/ blue and featuring art inspired by New York and Fashion, The space is habited by a Fashion talent agency by day and it's founder as a dining room at night. Mixed with an eclectic mixture of both functional mid century and more industrial pieces, this space serves dual purposes very well.

Get the Look!/ Studio Marcus Hay

Photography: Jim Bastardo, Styling: Studio Marcus Hay

For the latest Get the Look, Found at www.studiomarcushay.com  We chose a classic Design Within Reach image shot by the amazing Jim Bastardo to call out where you can find like minded or the same. Shot last summer in The Hamptons in a very cute granny flat like section of  home, we turned a small room into an elevated beach shack. Painted all white and with a cute stairwell that led to a sleeping nook, We channeled classic American surfing romps like 1960's TV's Gidget and the 1966 film The Endless Summer . You can even see a tribute to the film in the way of a framed poster. It was a really fun shot to style and having grown up on the beaches, I could totally relate.

Get the Look!/ Studio Marcus Hay

Main image: Photographed by Jim Bastardo, Stylng: Studio Marcus Hay

New to our Color & Trend Forecasting section on www.studiomarcushay.com, We have a small feature that pops up every now again within the section on the website called Get The Look, It's purpose is to highlight some of the key items that are featured in some of the more popular Studio Marcus Hay images. We often get a lot of emails out of the blue asking us where we sourced certain items, Hopefully in this case this section will help those writing to ask us.

At Studio Marcus Hay we love to create a narrative to as many images as we can, A story behind an image is always captivating even if subtle. Our top Get The Look featured here was shot for a recent Design Within Reach catalog,This time it was a Studio Marcus Hay favorite: Doris Day who inspired the look for this image featuring Muuto shelving. This look is particularly inspired by her show The Doris Day Show that ran from 1968-1973. We wanted to capture Doris's spirit within our scheme for the shot with a sunny and innocent
interpretation of an entryway complete with Doris's bike and head scarf.

The second Get The Look is from our New York Stories series, You can see more here. It's part of the Edna Indigo Greenleaf series. A lover of botanical, Edna resides in the West Village.
