For Fall this year, SMH, Inc travelled to New Hampshire to work on the latest catalog for The Garnet Hill Fall Catalog. It's always a pleasure to head north to work on these projects. This time we got to work with the very talented Photographer for the first time, Ryan Liebe which was a pleasure.

We have had a long history with the company and are very familiar with the product and customer. With a very edited approach and with the country of Italy as inspiration, we worked with beautiful stucco inspired sets and created warm and moody environments that co existed with the fashion element of the catalog that was actually shot in Italy (lucky them! ; )

We have since ventured up again where SMH, Inc actually art directed the next catalog due out next year for Spring, look out for that one soon!

Falling for Fall/ Apples

Photography: Anson Smart, Styling and Art Direction: Studio Marcus Hay

Fall in the US would have to be Studio Marcus Hay's favorite season, coming off the heat of Summer, everything feels crisper and calmer. It's also very beautiful as all the leaves turn and the holiday seasons actually kick in which after styling and art directing them for months comes as a welcome eventuality.

We Art Directed and Styled this image from our Fall/ 14 campaign with Williams Sonoma with the amazing Photographer Anson Smart

Have a wonderful Fall this season, We are certainly looking forward to it!

For the recent campaign for Fall at Osh Kosh B'gosh, Studio Marcus Hay worked on a weeks shoot that included some shots in a studio with sets and props and other shots shot on location in Tarrytown, NY at a local school.

It was a huge amount of fun to switch gears and to be working kids again, the energy is both crazy but exciting with carefully executed and considered schedules involving a revolving cast of kids present every day that worked like true professionals.

It was a Back to School campaign which featured heavily online, In store and in printed catalogs and promos. The look was all about embracing the signature Osh Kosh blue, focusing on all colors inspired by denim with pops of yellow and pale gray.

I had a wonderful team, Thanks to Harry, Mykl and Andrea for being such great sports, Andrea did an amazing job of crafting, hours of wrapping books, custom making pinwheels, potato sacks and dipped rulers. Thanks to Eric Pitra and his team for doing such an amazing job with the sets working to the designs of a vintage set of bleacher, gym ladders and lockers.

We had a lot of fun with the props as you can see, It's so great to get paid to rediscover your childhood : ) Hope you enjoy the pics!

Sometimes you can be really lucky to be part of a Photographic team and travel to some really great locations. When you work with Design Within Reach, You always know the locations are going to be extra special. 3 Hours out of Manhattan in Upstate NY, We visited a location for a few days in Hudson/ Rhine beck. Studio Marcus Hay joined the DWR team to create some magic.

Due to keeping the location a surprise when the Catalog comes out in January, 2013, I am not going to show you pics of the house, but in details I can show you that without a doubt, Fall is here and becoming more beautiful every day, The turning of the leaves is something you never quite get the full grasp of when you are in the city, Real Apples on real trees glistening in the morning rain, piles of chopped wood, An old shed that is covered in vines turning a beautiful red color, life seems fresh and so natural. In sweaters and rain boots I trudged 100 times a day back and both from our prop tables set up in the shed to the house but I never got sick of seeing geese flying in the air, leaves raining off trees and the sound of a trickling stream by the house.

Fall is in the air and for many so inspiring and a favorite time of the year, In the country you would have to be crazy not to want to stop and admire nature at it's finest time of year.

Thanks to my great team Mykl Cummins, Molly Hartman and "our Linda" Linda Lezius, our Intern from Berlin, Germany who has become a much loved member of our team and took some of the pics here.
