Every now and again, I get to do a story for Australian Interiors magazine Inside Out, A magazine I have had a long history with.
This time they asked me to style a story on fellow Ex-Pat Justin Dorset. Described in the article as one of the greatest white-elephant store hunters in deepest New York, Justin is the owner of his business Dorset Finds and he is opening a new showroom in Brooklyn this October which is exciting. His specialty is Industrial pieces which he meticulously documents on his blog which can be found attached to his website. With much love and attention in his workshop which we also visited, he restores without removing too much of the existing charming patina, pieces that he finds all over the country and beyond. Photographer Jonny and I worked to create a narrative within Justin's Brooklyn Apartment, I created some still lives based on some of Justin's objects, many of which where extremely interesting.
I also had the pleasure of bumping into Justin some months later at Brimfield Antique Show, where of course he had clutched in his hand a newly purchased industrial lamp ready for restoring!
Inside Out also included me on their contributors page, see attached.
The story was photographed by the ever talented Jonny Valiant
