Most people love a good glass of wine after a hard days work, but you gotta eat too!...
Last year I was asked to work on a cookbook by Photographer Kate Mathis for Chronicle Books who are based on the West Coast. The Author was Barbara Scott-Goodman who has done many, many books with Chronicle and other Publishing houses as Author and Designer. This book is called "Wine Bites/ Simple morsels that pair perfectly with Wine"
On Amazon where you can buy the book amazon.com It describes Wine Bites is an inspiring cookbook for those who entertain casually and frequently. More than 60 recipes for simple, tasty snacks include suggestions for an accessible wine to pair with each.
We shot the book over 2 days and with incredible speed, I take’s an experience team to be able to do this an produce pictures of such high quality, There are over 35 images in the book. Food Stylist Adrienne Anderson adrienne-anderson.net had a huge job on her hands with a production line of Wine Bites streaming out of the kitchen at a rapid rate.
All of the props due to budget restrictions are pretty much my own props, what a lot of folks don’t realize is often you are part of a book project for simply the love of working on books, It also helps as a Prop Stylist working on these projects if you have a love and understanding of food to start with and a good collection of fabrics, plates, bowls, glasses, cutlery, utensils, chopping boards, skillets, baking dishes and napkins in all colors imaginable. For the book I suggested we approach the chapters by giving each one a distinctive mood and color palette.
In the past I have been able to work on many cookbooks that have enabled me to storyboard, conceptualize, consult on layout and art direct on set, being a Prop Stylist means you are busy enough but I really love the challenge of taking on a bigger role, to help create the bigger picture, some examples of my work where I have taken a bigger role are on my website marcushay.com/galleries/album/14/books
This was a great project to work on and we certainly enjoyed sampling some of the tasty morsels, no wine on set of course! ; ), Actually seriously not a drop but they smelt great!
