Oh Summer, Isn't  it wonderful! Even in the dead of winter I love to work on a Summer shoot, It is a great teaser to the warmer months, Winter In the U.S (At least in New York) seems to go on for so long so Summer is relished. There are a lot of themes to Summer shoots that reoccur in the States, They always do a July 4th story, A BBQ story, A Clam/ Lobster Roll or Crab Story and Popsicle/Ice Cream Dessert Type Story for certain. Sometimes I have to admit, it would be great to break the mold, do we all want to read about the same things all the time? ...Maybe we do?, It seems routine and familiarity  is what drives most people, Sometimes at least they want a spin on something they already know?! I always think even if presented with the same ideas, It's a Stylist's job to freshen it up or if given enough rope, reinterpret all together?! Sometimes we have to do it of our own accord, see how far we can push something, after all why else would we be doing what we do?

Once in awhile I get to shoot for Food Network Magazine, As of 2010, it reached 5 million readers with each issue with a 1.35 million circulation. It is published 10 times a year. I like to work for them because we share an aesthetic, they like to keep things simple and clean. In "Weekend Dinners" we also get to cover a number of themes in one story, the key is to chain these alltogether into mini stories that have a relationship. It can be a challenge but one I enjoy. We covered a Dad's Cookout, A Crab Boil, A Grad Lunch and for something a bit different, A Veitmanese Dinner (My fave) Hope you enjoy the latest story in their latest issue.
